Laparoscopic surgery (closed surgery) is a surgical technique used to view or perform operations on the intra-abdominal organs. With this technique, small holes ranging from 0.5 to 1.2 cm are opened from the abdomen, the abdomen is inflated with harmless gas, and the operation is performed with the help of a camera and laparoscopic instruments.
Laparoscopic surgery can be used in many areas for many different surgical procedures. It is used in gynecological diseases such as hysterectomy (removal of the uterus), myomectomy (removal of fibroids), cystectomy (removal of cysts such as chocolate), tube ligation, tube opening, pregnancy treatment, urinary incontinence.
It is a less invasive method compared to other surgical methods and causes less pain after surgery. At the same time, the recovery time after surgery is shorter, so that you can return to daily work in a shorter time. Like any procedure, laparoscopy has risks, but it is less than open surgery. It is performed under general anesthesia in operating room conditions. Therefore, a detailed examination and tests should be done before the operation.
